It has been published on Amazon for a year now and I am pleased to say that it is still selling quite well, despite the heavy competition from some great authors.
Publishing a novel has been a bit of a roller coaster ride, I got high on the 5 star reviews and low on the 1 stars. Of course I am not going to entertain everyone, plus my writing skills might not be up to everyone's standards. Also as the topic choice was a bit of a 'tongue in cheek' look at ex-pats in France, some might have taken offence. But if we cant laugh at ourselves then who can we laugh at.
I certainly did not write for the money, although I have earned over a thousand pounds, which greatly surprised me. I wrote because I wanted to and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey. I have also been on a big learning curve, I need to up my game and also to make my first chapter more gripping. But if you do not try anything, how will you ever learn.

What I have found out in the world of publishing is that there are many other authors out there that are willing to help each other. This is a pleasant change from most types of businesses, where it is a dog eat dog situation. I say business, because marketing has become part and parcel of being a self-published author, which is why I have written this post of course! However, a few of you might even buy my novel and better still it might inspire a few of you to follow in my footsteps.
My novel is on special offer this weekend, just $1.50 on Amazon.com 95p on Amazon UK and 1.16 euros on Amazon FR. That's not bad value for a few hours of entertainment. It is also available in paperback.

A few hours after this post I saw that I had made it to Number 1. A big thanks to anyone else who bought the book.
